Music in Worship

Listen to 'Seek ye first the Kindom of God'

In normal times, music is an important part of our worship: hymns and songs, accompanying prayers and readings, as well as devotional anthems and instrumental interludes. We are blessed with a wide range of musical talent and resources, and we endeavour to use these in as full and varied a way as possible.

Wesley Memorial Choir The choir makes a regular and important contribution to Sunday morning worship, with music from many different traditions. The repertoire draws on a wide variety of music, from across the ages and around the world.New members of all ages and ability are always welcome –  introduce yourself on e-mail: music@wesleymem.org.uk.

Wesley Memorial Singers

A bigger group of choir singers and participants in musical productions who sing very accessible music in worship from time to time. All are welcome to join, no previous experience needed!

Rockfish

The junior church band plays a selection of contemporary gospel and secular music in worship and special events. All are welcome to join.

Original music

A good proportion of the repertoire of the choir and music group comes from our own arrangements and original hymns and songs.

Musical productions

Wesley Mem has an outstanding tradition of inclusive musical productions and specially written shows, including Moses, the story in Exodus, with some amazing special effects. Amazing love! (2017) told the story of the Wesley brothers up to their famous conversion moments in 1738, and Time and Again (2019) was a compilation of numbers from six shows. Performers of all ages and many varying talents are welcome to join the shows. Music from two of the shows has been used during morning worship to illustrate the Christmas / Easter stories.
